I've finally decided to give re coil/wicking a go on my mini vivi nova's. I'm going to order a multimeter, some wire and wick later this week Wink

For a standard ego battery I want to make my coils about 1.8 ohms so can anyone tell me which wire would I need 0.15 or the 0.20? And also how many turns would I have to make?

Thanks.

Thanks mate, i think it was 3 turns of 0.20 i used to get around 1.8 ohm , i will make another coil up later and get back to you

Cheers mate, I'll give it a go when I get my wire and wick and post back how I got on Smiling

0.15mm Nickel chromium wire - 61.1 ohms/metre
0.2mm Nickel chromium wire - 34.4 ohms/metre
0.16mm Kanthal A-1 - 69.8 ohms/metre
0.2mm Kanthal A-1 - 45.3 ohms/metre

Length of wire required for 3 ohm coil:
0.15mm Nickel chromium wire - ~50mm
0.2mm Nickel chromium wire - ~87mm
0.16mm Kanthal A-1 - ~43mm
0.2mm Kanthal A-1 - ~65mm

Thanks for that, can I just claify that if I wanted for example a 3ohm coil using 0.2mm Kanathal wire I'd need a 65mm length in TOTAL, as in thats the length I'd cut off before starting, or do I measure it another way (65mm of coils or something?)

Cheers

I find its easier to wrap and test with multi meter .2 approx 5 turns and .25 4 turns and .15 I have gone upto 7 just play it by practice and see what suits you.

Just done this with .20 standard wire 5 turns measuring 1.5ohm and vaping like a dream. Much easier than the mesh technique and imho as it stands a better vape.

Was putting off coiling on wick and turns out its a breeze. Cheers Glen.

This is doing my head in now. I just can't get a reading on the multimeter, I've no idea even which setting to put it on or what way round the back and red wires go. I set it to the ohms symbol but all I'm getting is a wildly jumping number.

Red positive (centre pin), black negative (thread). It should take a second or two to settle down.

Thats still somewhat meaningless to me Confused

This is the multimeter I've got for what its worth. I wish Glen had explained that side of things more Sad

Put the red positve on the center pin of your carto and touch the black negative on the outer threads and you will get your reading
