Kanger T3 re-wicked with Ekowool
my 2mm "Ekowool" braided silica wick arrived today so decided to have a bash at re-wicking a T3.

wasn't sure if it would work in the T3 because as Dave on aaec told me, it's a bit flat, but with a little gentle squeezing on the sides can easily be made tubular. I wound the coil first and then moistened the end of the wick and carefully thread it through the coil.

İmage

as soon as it's in the coil it keeps it's round shape.

İmage

I used Kanthal A1 0.20mm (5 wraps) & ended up with a resistance of about 2.5 Ohms, will probably only do 4 wraps next time cos I prefer it around 1.8 Ohms...or maybe I'll try some 0.25mm Kanthal.

İmage

primed with Eskimo and ready to vape Big Grin loving it so far and will definitely be using it in the eVod when my replacement heads arrive from Toby | iVapour..

RE: Kanger T3 re-wicked with Ekowool
Very cool. Braided huh?! Where'd you pick that up if you don't mind me asking?

I've been rebuilding my T3's with 3mm Silica and 32 gauge Kanthal since I got them. I've found rebuilding them is a must because I just didn't care for the stock wick/coil assembly. Going on well over a month now with the rebuilt ones. They're great when they actually work, although I do find I have to blow out the tube every day or so, because it does start to gurgle from the condensation in the top-cap.

How do the .20 and .25 translate in gauge measurements?

RE: Kanger T3 re-wicked with Ekowool
Hi Dusty, I got it from here

http://www.ecigwizard.com/accessories/ot...m-2mm.html

and I believe Cloud9Vaping will also be stocking it very soon, there is a thread about it here

http://www.c9v-forum.com/svoemesto-products/ekowool/

very impressed with the quality of this wick, it's easier to work with, doesn't shed its fibers so easily and wicks great. I'm using quite a thick juice so no need for those extra flavour wicks either as the 2mm ekowool is actually 2mm deep and 3mm wide.

not 100% but I'm pretty sure 0.20 is 32 gauge and 0.25 is 30 gauge.

I'm fairly new to all this so someone please correct me if I'm wrong but from what I understand.. thicker wire has lower resistance than thinner wire, lower resistance is better as the coil heats up quicker and gets hotter, but more wraps on the coil is also better as there is more surface area which = better flavour/more vapour.

I reckon I could squeeze in 6-7 wraps of 0.25 or 0.3 mm Kanthal and hopefully get a resistance of about 1.8 ohms. Smiling but I only have the 0.2mm at the moment.

I use this for rewicking my Evod, it's great stuff, wicks & carries flavour really well.
