How about an automatic time limit on ads which would close them UNLESS the seller/advertiser renews them by just ticking a box or something to indicate the item is still available/wanted etc?

On Hold status for sales?
Can see why as i got moaned at by someone Wasting his time reading 4 posts then wasting more time moaning in the post that they left,
I took the piss as i felt it was pretty harsh but if its a couple of pages before the item is sold its a fair point ,

That is my no 1 pet hate on this forum!! Pure laziness!! I'd love to trawl through the classies and get people to sort there sale threads. Once your on page 3 you don't know whether the item is for sale or sold!Mad

Rant over! (that's my second rant tonight!) 57

RE: On Hold status for sales?
"On hold" is a good thing. Would it be permissible to request that the potential buyer pay a non-refundable deposit? AKA put your money where your mouth is.

Hmmm, although I think that could be a good idea, I can see the reasoning behind it, I don't see how you could fully enforce it, or where you would stand with disputes. ScratchChin

There's probably a mod lurking who will know! Smiling

RE: On Hold status for sales?
Unless someone agrees to not getting the deposit back then it would be up to paypal, and I don't think they would give a shit about a forum convention. If someone made a paypal payment and didn't get stuff then paypal would likely refund.

I might be wrong here, i'm doped up on pain killers so feel free to correct me, but wouldn't that mean that if person 1 bought of person 2, person 1 would put a deposit on whatever person 2 is selling, then say person 1 changed his mind for whatever reason and wanted his non refundable deposit back he could just claim via paypal as goods not for non delivery, lost in the post etc etc? Undecided
