What voltage and Resistance...the Safe Vaping Chart
The question often arises about what voltage and resistance go together, especially with variable voltage devices.

The attached reference charts show this in graphic form:

THIS CHART REFERS PRIMARILY TO SINGLE COIL DEVICES

Of course, dual-coils are a different kettle Wink

Well, dual coils are a way of:-

1. reducing the resistance and
2. distributing the heat over a greater area (two coils)

but the principles remain the same, as they would with triple coils.

Well, many folk tend to think of dual-coils the same way they think of single coils with lower resistance. And the principle of "burning out the coil" would not apply.

You might want to rethink that....

I'm sorry to contradict you, but you are wrong. Exactly the same principles apply one, two or three coils.

RE: What voltage and Resistance...the Safe Vaping Chart
Same principles apply but the resistance stated on the box is the combined one.
Therefore, vaping a dual coil marked as 1,5ohm at 3,4v will not give you much joy, let alone 7+ watts, and Onceupon is right that the chart is not a good reference as for what to power dual coils at.
yes?

Why not?
The battery will only see the total resistance.

I suppose the argument will be is that the available power is now being disspated in two loads in, not one.....so they are getting half the power each?

So you need to up the voltage a bit to compensate. Dual coils will therefore operate within the upper margins of the suggested limits?

I've added a qualifier to the chart.

RE: What voltage and Resistance...the Safe Vaping Chart
Well, the resistance of each coil is considerably higher than the combined resistance, so for getting the same wattage on each coil as you would from an equivalent resistance single coil, the voltage will need to be considerably higher.
And the battery will need to provide enough amperage for the job, of course.

I still have a stash of triple coils and no mod to run them properly Smiling
