RE: Coils
Good to hear you're on your way to making vapabale coils Thumbs Up

I learnt loads from these guys when I joined, about making coils, making juice, making me spend money and making me laugh along the way. Good bunch on here lol Wink

Touching coils work best when there's a layer of oxide insulating each loop from the next. If there's bare metal touching between loops that can throw the resistance off.

Sound advice for coils that come out too low, always do it myself, but the original issue was that the resistance was too high. Either too much wire, or bad contact, as we know the wire gauge and composition is correct.

RE: Coils
Just got a Kayfun V3. What wire should I use out of 0.28, 0.32 or 0.37 and what ID?

What type of vape you like depends on your coil build.

I don't have a KFv3 but most of my single coil RTAs have 0.32 kanthal, 2.5mm ID (inner diameter) about 7 wraps will come out about 1.3Ω to 1.4Ω but that's fine with me.

If I wanted something lower than 1.4 I would either have less wraps round a 3mm ID. I've found the coil builds I like, anything between 0.8Ω to 1.4Ω

Taking in mind when there's a bigger ID, it doesn't short out on any chimney part. I can't build anything bigger than a 2.5mm ID on the Bellus, there's not enough room on the deck. On the Velocity RDA I can put a 3.5mm ID without any probs.

Best thing to do Joe is play around with a few different IDs with the wires you've got. Smaller diameters will heat up a little quicker than bigger ones and thicker wires take longer to heat up so bare that in mind when you're having a play.

There are so many coil variations but find what type of vape you enjoy first and build around that, Just remember to ALWAYS CHECK RESISTANCE BEFORE FIRING UP!

THICKER the wire = LOWER the ohms

MORE coil wraps = HIGHER ohms

I'll give that spec a whirl. Thanks.

I'm having a ball with this vaping lark but I've said to myself "No more gear!". I'm going to master what I have. i'm actually happy with the two Innokin MVPs and Aerotanks I have but the Kayfun does look fun to play with. TBH shinyitis made me get the Kayfun.

Aye, it's a slippery slope he's on Smiling MVPs and Aerotanks can be made to work fine, but there's always something else to try!

Nothing beats a kayfun. Well...lots of things can beat a kayfun but most can be beaten into scrap with a kayfun (at least the older versions - the new ones fall apart if you look at them funny)
